Emergency services are at the scene of a serious crash on the Timaru – Pareora Highway.

A police spokesperson said a motorcyclist is believed to be seriously injured as a result of the crash which was reported shortly after 3.30pm.

Diversions are in place at SH1/Pareroa River Road and SH1/Munro Road.

There is heavy traffic in the area and motorists are asked to delay travel.
