Emergency services are at the scene of a stabbing in Rangiora this evening.

The incident has taken place on White Street.

A police spokeswoman says officers were responding to a report of an assault where one person has been injured.

She said police were called to the address about 8:30pm.

Ambulance have transported one person to hospital.

A neighbour said they heard loud noises moments before police arrived on scene.

The police spokeswoman said no arrests have been made and police are establishing the circumstances.
