Emergency services are at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on William Street,
Netherby, Ashburton.

Police were called about 8pm.

The road will be closed, with diversions in place.

Motorists should avoid the area if possible.

Meanwhile, Metservice has issued a strong wind warning for Christchurch this evening.

It says Northwest winds may approach severe gale force in exposed places at times for Christchurch and the Canterbury plains.
