A Canterbury motorist has had a lucky escape after crashing their car in Rolleston.
A police spokeswoman says the crash happened around 5AM on Levi Road between Beaumont and Masefield Drives.
She says the car rolled and caught fire at around 5am.
No one was trapped and there were no injuries.
An eye witness told Chris Lynch the driver was able to get out of their car before it caught fire.

Nearby trees also caught fire.
The road was closed while the fire was extinguished.
The vehicle has been removed and the road will open shortly.
