A 19 year old teenage female has been arrested after failing to stop for police.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch the pursuit related to a car that failed to stop in Suva Street when signalled to do just before 1pm.

She said it attempted to flee around a corner but hit the kerb, causing a tyre to deflate.

The car then slowed down and stopped near the intersection of Hansons Lane and Blenheim Road.

A 19-year-old female was arrested for unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle and is scheduled to appear in Chch District Court on Thursday 19 November.
