Facebook says Advance New Zealand’s page was taken down after it repeatedly breached misinformation policies.

The page was deleted this afternoon while co-leader Billy Te Kahika was live streaming.

A Spokesperson told Newstalk ZB Facebook doesn’t allow anyone to share Covid-19 misinformation on its platforms that could lead to imminent physical harm.

The spokesperson says it has clear policies against this type of content, and will enforce on these policies, regardless on anyone’s political position, or party affiliation.

The ban follows yesterday’s ruling by the Advertising Standards Authority ordering Advance New Zealand to pull advertising that falsely claims vaccines are mandatory under the law.

Last week an investigation by Stuff journalists revealed Billy Te Kahika inflated and misrepresented his army credentials and said he was in the New Zealand police force – when he never was.

The Advertising Standards Authority says the party’s ad was misleading and ordered them not to use it again.

Facebook implemented rules on fake news regarding Covid19 in April.
