Geonet has upgraded this mornings shake to a 4.6 magnitude quake.

It struck just before 7.30 AM and was centred 20 km south-west of Christchurch

GeoNet recorded 7500 people feeling the quake.

The website described it as moderate.

More than 2000 people commented on Chris Lynch’s Facebook page with many saying the quake woke them up.

There has been no reports of damage.

However, Cary Wesley commented saying a crack that’s been fixed three times by EQC “has happened again.”

“So much for replacing the broken blocks behind the plaster” He said.

Michelle Pierres said the quake felt strong in Heathcote – “House rocked and rolled.”
