Retailers at Westfield Riccarton have been warned to prepare for disruption because of a planned anti-mandate protest.

In a letter sent to all retailers, Westfield management said “we have been informed by New Zealand police that a protest is planned for tomorrow, Saturday the 12th of March, that may impact the centre.

“We are working with the New Zealand Police to minimise the disruption this protest may have on the centre.”

Management said “the centre management team will be on site along with an increased security presence.”

The Christchurch City Council said it was aware of a protest in the city tomorrow from late morning/midday “which will move from Hagley Park along Riccarton Road towards Westfield Mall and then return.”

“We’re advising motorists to avoid commuting across Riccarton Road between the hours of 11am and 2pm.”
