Woolworths New Zealand has confirmed it has purchased the former AgResearch campus site in Lincoln, paving the way for a major new development in one of Selwyn’s fastest growing communities.
Woolworths New Zealand Director of Property Matthew Grainger said the company was pleased to secure the site and saw significant demand for another supermarket in the area.
Grainger said Lincoln’s rapid population growth meant there was a clear need for a second full service supermarket to meet both current and future demand.
“We are always looking for new opportunities to better serve our customers across New Zealand.
“Lincoln is a thriving, high growth community and we see strong demand for a second full service supermarket to meet the current and future needs of the community.
“We are in the very early stages of planning and look forward to engaging with the community and the Council as we shape the future development of this important site.”
More details about the proposed development are expected in the coming months.
