Two youths have been taken into custody after a vehicle rammed a police car during an incident in Christchurch this afternoon.

Senior Sergeant Kerry Joyce told chrislynchmedia.com officers spotted a vehicle of interest travelling west on Riccarton Road at about 12.45pm.

Police signalled for the driver to stop, but the vehicle continued on.

Senior Sergeant Joyce said officers did not pursue because of the manner in which the vehicle was being driven.
