A truck has crashed off the Kaikoura Highway.

A police spokeswoman said emergency service were alerted to the crash at 11:38am.

The truck crashed off the road on on State Highway One (northbound) near Waipapa Road, north of the Kaikoura township.

The cab was reportedly on its side.

She said the driver was taken to Kaikoura Hospital.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said the driver is in a moderate condition.

Because the truck was off the the road, there were no traffic issues.
