Police have confirmed one person has died following an earlier serious crash in Fernside.

Three other people were taken to Christchurch Hospital for treatment.

Police were alerted to the three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Plaskett Road and Oxford Road at about 3.55pm.

A local resident said one vehicle ran a stop sign hitting another vehicle towing a horse float and described the intersection as “terrible.”

The roads have reponed.
