A power outage in Shirley is affecting a number of traffic signals in the area.

A Christchurch Transport Operations Centre Road spokesman is urging motorists to take care and apply the give-way rules.

Orion says at least 777 customers are without power.

It says field staff were called at 8.30AM to investigate the fault.

The company expects to power restored by 11AM this morning.
