Emergency services are attending a two-vehicle crash on the Hinds Highway (SH1), near Winslow, Ashburton.

A police spokesperson said police were called to the serious crash at about 10.35am.

Initial indications are there have been injuries.  The road is closed, with diversions in place.

NZTA said “due to a crash blocking the northbound lane, approximately 300m north of Chatmos Rd between Winslow and Tinwald, road users are advised to take extra care and to expect some delays.

Police said motorists should avoid the area.
