Snow has prompted vehicle restrictions on State Highway 73 between Springfield and Arthur’s Pass Village.

NZTA said the route was closed to towing vehicles from 9.25am on Sunday.

Snow chains were essential for all other vehicles using the highway.

Motorists were advised to expect winter driving conditions and check the latest road information before travelling.
