A man is in a serious condition in Christchurch hospital after being found outside a bar in Rolleston.

A police spokeswoman told Chris Lynch police were called to Rolleston Drive, at 10pm last night after reports that a group of people were fighting outside a bar.

She said a man was located with significant injuries and taken to Christchurch Public Hospital in a serious condition.

A 25-year-old man was arrested.

He is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on 20 May charged with assaults with intent to injure.
