A Canterbury MP says he is disappointed after a rock was thrown through the rear window of his car.

Waimakariri MP Matt Doocey said a passerby discovered his damaged car on Monday while it was parked on Williams Street near the Fuller Street intersection in Kaiapoi.

“I’m pretty disappointed that someone has thrown a rock through the back windscreen of my car,” he said.

“As the local MP for 11 years now, I’ve worked hard to be accessible and respectful of other people’s views, and I’ve never had this happen before.”

The damage has been reported to police, and Doocey said there was a CCTV camera nearby that may have captured the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
