A road snowfall warning has been issued for Porters Pass.

The Metservice warning is i place from 7pm Sunday until 3am Monday.

Rain may turn to wet snow at times about the summit of the road from Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday, but little if any snow is expected to accumulate on the road.

A heavy rain watch is in force until 6AM Monday for Eastern Marlborough and Canterbury between Ward and Cheviot, where there will be rain, heavy at times.

Rainfall amounts may approach warning criteria, especially about the ranges.
