Power has been cut to over a thousand Orion customers this morning.

Orion Energy said a cable fault has cut electricity to Barrington, Hillmorton, Hoon Hay, Somerfield and Spreydon.

An Orion field operator was en route to investigate the outage which started just after midnight.

The company expected to have power fully restored by 2AM, although it could be earlier.
