Armed police have surrounded a house in Woolston.

Police officers have been shouting through the windows of a house on Rutherford Street near Ferry Road.

A neighbour said police officers have been at the house since 11AM.

A police dog unit is at the scene along with a police van parked up near the intersection.

A police spokeswoman said “there are inquiries in that general area to locate a person of interest to police.

Police are armed as a precaution.”

The road has not been blocked off.
