Armed police have blocked off roads in Aranui.

A police spokesperson told Chris Lynch police were notified at about 5:15pm that a person was seen in possession of what was reported to be a firearm on Pages Road.

Armed police staff attended as a precaution.

Pages Road was closed while Police responded but has since re-opened.

No firearm was located, and no arrests were made.

No one was injured.

Police are satisfied that there is no ongoing risk to the public.
