Police have named the man who died following a water incident in the Boyle River.
Emergency services were called to the Boyle River in the Hurunui District on Thursday after reports that someone was swept into the river.
The man was 25-year-old Phelan McDade from Napier.
A police spokesperson said, “We extend our condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and the death will be referred to the Coroner.
