Canterbury police are investigating an aggravated robbery at the Fresh Choice supermarket in Leeston.
A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the incident just after 4.40am at a commercial premises on High Street.
Two men gained entry to the supermarket and assaulted two employees before taking cigarettes.
Police said they were following a number of enquiries to locate those responsible.
The supermarket and carpark remained cordoned off by police at 10am.
