Police are investigating after a person arrived at Christchurch Hospital overnight with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

A police spokesperson told ChrisLynchMedia.com officers received a report at about 1.55am that someone had presented at hospital with the injuries.

The person received medical treatment and has since been discharged.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the injury were still being investigated.

Police are expected to release more information later today.
