A two vehicle crash has been reported near the intersection of Weedons Ross Road and West Coast Road this afternoon.

Police were notified at around 2pm and said Weedons Ross Road was blocked while crews work to remove the vehicles involved.

St John said it was alerted to the incident and sent one ambulance and one operations manager to the scene.

St John staff assessed and treated three patients.

Two received minor injuries and did not require transport. One patient received moderate injuries and has been taken to Christchurch Hospital.

Motorists travelling through the West Melton area are advised to expect delays.
