A boat has capsized while crossing the Jacks Bay Bar on Saturday morning, leaving one person missing.

Emergency services responded to the incident after a report was made at 10:40 am, according to a police media spokesperson.

“A search is underway for one person believed to be outstanding, with the assistance of volunteers and rescue vessels from Coastguard Bluff and Coastguard Dunedin.

 The second person onboard has been located on some rocks nearby and emergency services are working to rescue them.”
