Person critically injured in Picton water incident

A person is in critical condition after a water related incident in Picton last night.

St John says they responded to the scene with two ambulances, one first response unit, and one helicopter.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was airlifted to Nelson Hospital in a critical condition”, the spokesperson said.

A visitor staying in Picton, who witnessed emergency services attending to the scene, told Chris Lynch Media they believed the incident occurred on a cruise ship docked in the harbour.

Police say the water-related incident near Lagoon Road, where the ship terminal is located. They confirmed one person was transported to hospital in a critical condition.
