A Christchurch hair salon was broken into over the weekend, with a smashed window and cash stolen in what appears to be part of a string of similar incidents.

Police confirmed they received a report on Monday morning about a burglary at Sharee’s Cut and Colour Bar on Opawa Road, and are investigating.

The salon’s owner, Sharee, told Chris Lynch Media that this is the first time such an incident has occurred in her 14 years of business.

She said she was alerted to the break-in around 7 a.m. on Monday after a cleaner discovered the damage.

“A cash float of approximately $100 was taken, and a window was smashed during the break-in.”

Sharee said she has been told salons across Kaiapoi, Belfast, and Queenspark have also been targeted in recent days.
