One person is in a serious condition after their car was swept down the Ashley River.

A police spokeswoman said police were called at 10.30am this morning to reports a vehicle was spotted in the Ashley River. 

A man was later found at an address on Barkers Road – which runs parallel to the river – at 11.40am. 

The police spokeswoman said it appears the man is connected to the vehicle which was spotted in the river. 

The timeline and sequence of events on this incident is still unclear.
