A person has been rescued after getting into difficulty at New Brighton beach.
A police spokeswoman said shortly after 7.30pm, police received a report of a person in trouble in the water off New Brighton Beach.
The person was recovered from the water and transported to hospital in a serious condition.
Surf Lifesaving NZ members were involved in the rescue.
A St John Ambulance attended along with a rapid response unit.
It’s the second incident in two days at the beach.
Last night, a man died after being rescued in waters near the New Brighton Pier.
