Several made in store bakery products sold at New World Halswell have been recalled after they were found to potentially contain foreign matter.
The recall has affected a range of cupcakes, muffins, and cakes produced in store and sold at the Halswell supermarket.
A New Zealand Food Safety spokesperson said “New World Halswell brand made in store bakery items are being recalled as they may contain foreign matter in the form of metal.”
The recalled products include New World Halswell Red Velvet Cupcakes six pack, New World Halswell Carrot Muffins six pack, and New World Halswell Carrot and Cream Cheese Icing Cakes in various sizes.
The affected products carry best before dates of 10 February 2026, 11 February 2026, 12 February 2026, and 13 February 2026.
All items were packaged in clear plastic.
“This recall does not affect any other New World Halswell made in store bakery products.”
The products were sold exclusively at New World Halswell, located at 346 Halswell Road in Christchurch, and were not exported.
“Affected products should not be consumed,” the spokesperson said.
“There have been no reports of injury associated with this recall, but anyone who has eaten these products and has concerns about their health should seek medical advice.”
Customers are being advised to return the affected products to New World Halswell for a full refund.
