Multiple people have been seriously injured in a crash in Heathcote.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called to Tunnel Road, near the Port Hills Road over-bridge just before midnight.
The crash involves two cars and a motorcycle.
“There have been serious injuries” the spokesperson said.
The New Zealand Transport Agency said the road was closed in both directions from the intersection with Ferry Road to Bridle Path Road.
Fire and Emergency crews have been scouring steep grass banks of Tunnel Road.
A wheel from one of the vehicles landed on Laing Cres about 50 metres from the crash site.
The Serious Crash Unit has been called to the scene where there are multiple fire appliances and ambulances.
