A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in Parklands, Christchurch on Wednesday.
As first reported by chrislynchmedia.com, emergency services were called to Lamorna Road at 7.50pm after receiving reports a woman had suffered critical injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Karen Simmons said the woman was unresponsive when emergency services arrived and could not be revived.

Police cordon on Queenspark Drive
A 36-year-old man was taken into custody a short time later and has since been charged with murder. He is due to appear in Christchurch District Court this morning.
Police are supporting the victim’s family and are not releasing further details at this stage.
“We also know that this will have been an incredibly distressing incident for Lamorna Road residents and the wider Parklands community,” Simmons said.

Police will maintain a presence in the area today as a scene examination and further enquiries continue.
