A 20 year old man is due to appear in court following an assault outside the Z service station in Sockburn.

A police spokeswoman told chrislynchmedia.com police were called to reports of an assault outside a business address on Curletts Road around 7pm on Monday.

A St John spokesman said they responded to the incident with an ambulance.

“One patient was assessed and transported to Christchurch Hospital in a moderate condition.”

A 20 year old man was arrested and is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Friday.

The man is charged with assault with intent to injure, the police spokeswoman said.
