A stretch of road north of Kaikōura has been affected by flooding, rock slides and high winds, with parts of the road washed out north of Surfers Corner.

Crews have been working on the ground clearing blocked culverts as conditions remain challenging.

Residents have been urged to remain vigilant, particularly in Gillings Lane and other low lying areas or locations close to running water, where flooding risks remain higher.
