Israeli air defences have intercepted some missiles from Iran following Iran’s missile launch toward Israel.

The attack by Iran was in response to an Israeli assault on the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier this month.

There has been sounds of explosions and sirens in Jerusalem as these interceptions occur.

Similar incidents of explosions and interceptions are being reported across Israel, including in Tel Aviv and the West Bank.

Additionally, US air defense systems in the Middle East have shot down some Iranian drones.

President Biden was convening with his national security advisors in Washington.

Before the attack, Biden confirmed on Friday that the US would support its ally.

This retaliatory attack coincides with Iran’s capture of a container ship near the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday amidst escalating tensions in the region as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues.

The ship is managed by a company associated with an Israeli businessman.

The attack late Saturday marked the first time Iran had ever launched a military assault on Israel, despite decades of enmity dating back to the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

ABC World News reported that Israel’s national emergency services — the Magen David Adom — said it has received no reports of casualties after air raid sirens activated all over Israel.

The MDA has received calls of “stress symptoms” and injuries that occurred while people were “running to the protected areas.”
