A person has been injured following a helicopter crash on the South Island’s West Coast.
A police spokeswoman said the incident occurred in Haast just after 4pm.
A person has sustained moderate injuries she said.
Emergency services are at the scene and the crash has been referred to the Civil Aviation Authority, she said.
A rescue helicopter has been called to the incident.
A CAA spokesperson said the “Civil Aviation Authority is aware of the helicopter crash on the Haast Past.
“At this stage, the CAA will make initial enquiries to understand what occurred and why, and to determine whether any further action is required.”
