Four arrested in Aranui following firearms incident

Four people have been taken into custody following a reported firearms sighting in Christchurch on Friday afternoon.

Sergeant Bec Helps said police were called to Richmond at around 3.30pm after a member of the public reported seeing a firearm.

A vehicle of interest was tracked to an address on Woodlands Place in Aranui, where police cordoned off the property.

Helps said four people were taken into custody and police remained at the scene on Friday afternoon.

Charges are being considered.

Police inquiries are continuing.
