Christchurch-born rider Hamish Macdonald has claimed the 2025 FIM Enduro3 (E3) World Championship, a historic moment for New Zealand motorsport.

Riding for the Sherco Factory Racing Team, Macdonald secured the title at the final round of the season, held in Zschopau, Germany (17-19 October).

His consistency throughout the season paid off, putting him ahead of his nearest challenger and making him the first Kiwi to win a senior world enduro title.

Macdonald’s international breakthrough came in 2019, when he won the FIM Enduro Youth World Championship, followed by the FIM Junior World Championship in 2020.

These victories marked him as one of the most talented young riders in global enduro competition and set the stage for his transition to the senior ranks.

Riding for Sherco, Macdonald has been praised for his controlled aggression and ability to handle large-capacity machines — qualities that suit the Enduro3 (E3) class, the category for the most powerful bikes in the world championship.
