New footage has emerged showing the moment a hot air balloon crashed in Methven this morning.

The Civil Aviation Authority said it was aware of an accident involving a hot air balloon and was making initial enquiries.

A police spokesperson said police were advised of the crash about 8.20AM.

Two people were checked for minor injuries.

Methven resident Meredith Fisher told Chris Lynch Media it had been a beautiful morning until the accident.

“I’ve never seen a hot air balloon come down like that before,” Fisher said.
