Flooding causing power outage in parts of Christchurch

Power has been cut to over 500 customers in Christchurch.

The outage is affecting Cashmere, Halswell, Kennedys Bush and occurred at 11.23PM

Orion said it is aware of the outage and field staff are investigating the issue.

In Woolston power is out for 77 customers.

Orion said flooding was the cause.

Fire and Emergency crews are working in overdrive, dealing with a number of flood related incidents and alarm activations.

Christchurch City Council contractors have deployed pumps on Maces Road, Bromley area, Tern Street, Rockinghorse Road and Ebbtide Streets in New Brighton, and in the Flockton area.
