One person has died in a crash in Waimakariri.

A police spokesperson said the single-vehicle crash occurred on Depot Road, View Hill at 8pm, Wednesday.

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene, police said.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are under way.
