The family of Olivia Podmore has organised a memorial bike ride to remember the talented athlete.
The 24-year-old sprint cyclist died suddenly in Cambridge on Monday.
She had earlier posted an emotional message on social media talking about the pressures of high-performance sport.
Her family has arranged a special memorial bike ride on Satuday to remember Olivia.
The event has been organised by her brother Mitchell Podmore, father Phil Podmore and friend Mat Prior.
They wrote “anyone who knew Liv, maybe met her once or twice, or even watched her journey and successes online and through social media, knows just how much Liv loved to ride her bike. She absolutely adored being on two wheels.”
This coming Saturday, a memorial ride for Liv will be held for all to pay their respects to the Podmore family, her friends, and importantly remember the amazing person she was. This will be an opportunity for us all take a moment and reflect on her infectious energy and smile, her care and love for any person she met, and dedication to anything she pursued.
People can meet up will be at Princess Margaret Hospital, at 10AM, and will journey to Sumner via Cashmere and Heathcote valley, ending with a gathering at the Scarborough Park Playground.
“The post reads “many people connected with Liv over the years, and it is acknowledged how many people will want to attend. As such, please respect the following outlined so that the nature of the ride is kept peaceful and enjoyable by all, and doesn’t cause any disruption for fellow road users.”
