Fallen tree cuts power to nearly 400 customers

Orion contractors are removing a tree which has landed on a power line, cutting electricity to nearly 400 customers.

Power is out for residents in Belfast, Burwood, Mairehau, Marshland, Ouruhia, Redwood, Spencerville.

Orion says a fallen tree has landed on power lines and work is underway to make repairs.

Traffic signals at the intersections with Marshland Rd, Te Korari St and Te Rito St are out because of the power outage.

Metservice is warning Northwest winds may approach severe gale in exposed places across the city.

The Canterbury High Country and Marlborough Sounds have both been upgraded to wind warnings.
