An emergency situation is unfolding at a youth justice facility in Rolleston.
Multiple police units, St John ambulances and a fire appliance have been called to Te Puna Wai o Tuhinapo, an Oranga Tamariki facility this evening.
A police spokesperson said they didn’t have any information that they were aware of.
When Chris Lynch Media called Te Puna Wai o Tuhinapo, a woman on the phone referred all questions back to police.
A Fire and Emergency was notified at 9.20PM.
A spokeswoman confirmed an appliance was sent to the facility to assist police.
Chris Lynch Media understands the facility has been placed into “lockdown.”
Oranga Tamariki has been approached for comment.
A Corrections spokesperson said the department didn’t have anything to do with the facility and referred media to Oranga Tamariki.
