Emergency services respond to water incident at Christchurch beach

Multiple emergency services have responded to a water incident at Sumner Beach in Christchurch.

Emergency services were called to the popular beach about 12.30pm on Sunday after a man was pulled from the water.

A rescue helicopter was initially dispatched to the scene but was later stood down.

Local fire and emergency crews responded along with Coast Guard Sumner crews.

A St John spokesperson told chrislynchmedia.com St John received a call at 12.12pm about an incident.

“We responded with one ambulance and two operations managers.”

Additional information would be provided by police.
