Police are responding to a serious crash in Waimakariri.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Broad and Harleston roads shortly after 3.30pm and involved a school bus and a car.

A police spokesman said “initial indications suggest there are injuries to the occupants of the car.

“There are no reports of injuries to passengers on the school bus.

“The road will be closed while emergency services attend.

A St John spokesman said seven resources have been dispatched, including three ambulances, two rapid response units, a helicopter and an operations manager. 

Ambulance officers are treating several patients. 

Motorists are asked to please delay travel or to take an alternate route.
