A cyclist has been seriously injured in Hillsborough this morning.

A police spokeswoman said police responded to an incident involving a cyclist on Garlands Road at about 8.40am.

The cyclist was injured after their wheel got stuck on the train track.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said they responded with a first response unit, a rapid response unit, a ambulance and manager to the scene.

“We assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Christchurch hospital in a serious condition.”
