A person has been seriously injured on State Highway 75, Christchurch Akaroa Road, at French Farm this afternoon.

A police spokesman said the crash, “involving a bicycle and car” was reported to police about 2.30pm.

It occurred near the intersection of Summit Road.

Traffic management was in place following the crash, however lanes have since reopened.

A St John spokeswoman said they responded with a first response unit, rapid response unit, and  helicopter to the scene.

“Our crews assessed and treated one patient who was airlifted to Christchurch hospital in a serious condition.”
