A person has died following a crash on State Highway 1 near Grassmere in Marlborough this morning.

Police said they were notified of the crash at about 7.30am. It involved a car and a cyclist.

The cyclist died at the scene.

One other person suffered moderate injuries.

The road was closed while emergency services attended but has since reopened.

Police said the circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
